India

On a recent trip to India, I was inspired to write this short poem (if I can call it one myself!)

A mega sloth with the heels of a cheetah,
Shades of poverty sprinkled along the highways of wealth,
A visionary future overshadowed by a short-term focus, An outward display masking a persistent coyness,
Youthful exuberance guided by the wisdom of wrinkled tradition,
Dishing up flavours and spices rich in the depths of age old recipes yet the aroma of the non-indigenous foods linger on,
Entertainment straddling the annals of international recognition while finding comfort in local platforms of influence,
Powerful people terrifying the gods with hate speech yet a few sane minds clamouring to drag this antiquated engine into the 22nd century,
India - a blend that defies comprehension or digestion, much like an exotic dish awaiting a personal taste test.
